Tim and Katie first learned about human trafficking in 2017 from Ariel at Zera House (zerahouse.org). As Zera House was getting started, Katie and Tim traveled with their children to West Virginia to help in a variety of ways over the course of two summers. After this time and as they learned more, they wanted to do more to help in anti-trafficking efforts, but were not quite sure how they fit into the picture.
Katie’s family had a cottage in Maine that their family had grown accustomed to visiting every summer. Early in 2021, the cottage was sold and Katie and Tim began searching for their own camp in Maine to continue their adventures and love of Maine. During this search, they began to think about the possibility of moving their family to Maine. As this option was considered, Tim and Katie were also considering their future goals, one of which involved helping people involved in anti-trafficking efforts in some way. They felt a need to provide respite care for people like Ariel and Zera House who are working every day to end human trafficking.
Doors slowly began to open for new jobs and a home for their family and a quick sale of their home in New Jersey. Since moving, pieces have fallen into place slowly, but clearly and they are excited to be starting Quiet Waters.

Katie Hollenback
Katie has been visiting Maine just about every summer since she was little to spend time at her Grandmother’s cottage Downeast. The sale of this cottage and the desire to help people who are fighting human trafficking spurred her family’s big move to Maine.
Katie has a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Grove City College and has a Computer Teacher certification in Maine. While beginning her career as an engineer, Katie shifted after a few years into education and has been teaching engineering, robotics, design and computer programming in a variety of roles for grades K-12 ever since. Katie is currently a Technology Integrator for grades K-12 and Interim Technology Director.
In her spare time Katie enjoys running and making: anything from baking to crafting with a cricut, 3D printer or laser.
